Privacy Policy

Temenal operates an expert knowledge platform accessible at temenal.com. References to "Temenal", "we", "us", or "our" in this Privacy Policy refer to the Platform operator. For privacy-related enquiries, contact us at privacy@temenal.com.

Account information. When you register, we collect your name, email address, and role (subscriber or expert). Experts additionally provide a job title, industry, years of experience, and bio.

Usage data. We log your searches, answer unlocks, commissions submitted, and platform activity. This includes which companies you search for, which answers you unlock, and timestamps of those actions.

Payment information. Subscription and token purchase transactions are processed by Stripe. We store only a record of your subscription status and token balance. We do not store your credit card number, bank account details, or other raw payment credentials — these are held by Stripe.

Communications. If you contact us by email, we retain the content of that correspondence.

Technical data. We collect standard server logs, including your IP address, browser type, and device type, when you access the Platform.

We use personal data to:

• Provide and operate the Temenal platform, including processing your token transactions, routing expert commissions, and returning search results;
• Send transactional emails — account confirmations, answer delivery notifications, royalty payment statements — via Resend;
• Prevent fraud, enforce our Terms of Service and Expert Contributor Agreement, and comply with legal obligations;
• Improve the Platform — we use aggregated, anonymised usage data to improve search quality and platform design. We do not sell personal data to advertisers or third parties;
• Respond to enquiries you send us.

We do not use your search queries or unlocked answer history for targeted advertising. We do not profile you for commercial purposes beyond what is necessary to operate the Platform.

We share personal data with the following third-party service providers who process it on our behalf:

• Supabase — database and authentication infrastructure. Stores your account profile, transaction history, and all platform data. Hosted on AWS infrastructure.
• OpenAI — we send question text and answer content to OpenAI APIs to power semantic search, answer tagging, and content summarisation. OpenAI processes this data under their API data usage policy (opt-out of training is enabled).
• Stripe — payment processing, subscription management, and (for experts) payout disbursement via Stripe Connect.
• Resend — transactional email delivery. Processes your email address and the content of system-generated emails sent to you.

Each of these processors is bound by data processing agreements and is obligated to process your data only as instructed by us and in accordance with applicable law.

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 90 days, except where we are required to retain it by applicable law (e.g. financial records subject to accounting and regulatory retention obligations).

Expert Content remains on the platform after account closure unless you specifically request its removal. Removal of Expert Content is subject to the terms of the Expert Contributor Agreement, including any outstanding royalty obligations.

Server logs are retained for a maximum of 12 months.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you;
• Correct inaccurate data;
• Delete your personal data ("right to be forgotten"), subject to our retention obligations;
• Withdraw consent for any processing that is based on your consent;
• Data portability — receive your personal data in a structured, machine-readable format;
• Object to processing for direct marketing purposes.

To exercise any of these rights, contact privacy@temenal.com. We will respond within 30 days. There is no charge for reasonable requests.

The Platform and its third-party processors operate infrastructure in multiple jurisdictions, including the United States (Supabase/AWS, OpenAI, Stripe, Resend). When your data is transferred to another country, it is subject to appropriate safeguards — including standard contractual clauses — to ensure it receives a level of protection consistent with applicable data protection law.

The Platform uses session cookies for authentication — these are necessary for the Platform to function and are not used for tracking or advertising. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising pixels. You can control cookie settings through your browser, but disabling session cookies will prevent you from logging in.

The Platform is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has registered an account, contact privacy@temenal.com and we will investigate and delete the account.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you by email before material changes take effect. The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
