Content Policy
This Content Policy sets out what triggers content review and removal on Temenal, how that process works, what rights experts and subscribers have during that process, and how royalties are treated in the event of removal. It is incorporated by reference into both the Expert Contributor Agreement and the Terms of Service.
Content may be placed under review in any of the following circumstances:
- Legal complaint. A formal legal notice (takedown request, court order, or regulatory directive) requiring us to restrict or remove specific content.
- MNPI suspicion. An internal or subscriber-flagged concern that expert content may contain material non-public information — for example, where an expert appears to have disclosed non-public earnings guidance, unannounced M&A activity, or other price-sensitive information about a public company.
- Factual dispute. A substantive, documented challenge to the accuracy of expert content, including a formal complaint from the company being discussed.
- Platform standard violation. Content that appears to violate the Expert Contributor Agreement — for example, investment advice framed as factual analysis, defamatory statements, or content that appears to breach the expert's NDA or confidentiality obligations.
- Quality failure. Content that falls materially below the standards expected of a Temenal expert contributor — for example, content that is superficial, largely sourced from public data without genuine practitioner insight, or misleading.
Immediate suspension. When a review is triggered, the relevant content is suspended from public access within 24 hours. Subscribers who have already unlocked the content retain access during the review period, but the content is removed from search results and new unlocks are paused.
Review team. Reviews are conducted by the Temenal operations team. For MNPI-related reviews, we may seek external legal advice before making a determination. We aim to complete initial reviews within 5 business days of triggering. Complex cases involving legal counsel may take longer; we will notify the expert of any extension.
Expert notification. We will notify the contributing expert by email within 24 hours of triggering a review, setting out: (a) the nature of the concern; (b) what content is under review; and (c) the expected timeline for a decision.
Expert response. The expert has 7 business days from notification to provide a written response addressing the concern. Failure to respond does not automatically result in removal, but we may proceed to a decision based on the available information.
Decision. After reviewing the available information (including any expert response), we will issue a written decision to restore, modify, or permanently remove the content. We will notify the expert of this decision by email, with reasons.
In some cases, rather than full removal, we may ask the expert to modify specific portions of an answer — for example, to remove a single paragraph that raises a concern while preserving the remainder of the response. Modification requires the expert's agreement. If no agreement is reached within 14 days, we may proceed to full suspension pending further review.
An expert may appeal a removal decision within 14 days of receiving our written decision. Appeals must be submitted in writing to legal@temenal.com and must set out the specific grounds for appeal — a general disagreement with the outcome is not sufficient.
Appeals are reviewed by a senior member of the Temenal team who was not involved in the original decision. We aim to issue an appeal decision within 10 business days. The appeal decision is final.
If an appeal is successful, the content is restored to the platform and any withheld royalties are released. If the appeal is unsuccessful, the removal stands and the royalty clawback provisions in Section 6 apply.
Accrued but unpaid royalties. If content is removed due to an MNPI breach, confidentiality breach, or material platform standard violation by the expert, Temenal reserves the right to withhold any royalties that have accrued but not yet been paid in connection with the removed content, pending the outcome of the review and any appeal.
Clawback of paid royalties. Where content is removed due to a confirmed breach by the expert (after any appeal process), Temenal may recover previously paid royalties attributable to that content, up to a maximum of 12 months of royalty earnings from that specific answer. Clawback is set out in written notice and may be offset against future royalty payments.
No clawback — expert-requested removal. If an expert requests removal of their own content for reasons unrelated to a breach — for example, because they no longer wish to be associated with a topic — no clawback applies. Accrued and unpaid royalties at the time of removal will be paid out at the next scheduled payment date.
No clawback — Temenal-initiated removal for non-breach reasons. If Temenal removes content for operational reasons unrelated to an expert breach (for example, because a company is no longer covered on the platform, or because the content is no longer relevant), no clawback applies and accrued royalties are paid.
Subscriber refunds. Subscribers who have unlocked content that is subsequently removed for MNPI concerns will be offered a token refund for the unlock cost, at Temenal's discretion, where the removal materially affects the value of what was purchased.
The appearance of a company name in Temenal's coverage map, search results, or answer library does not constitute an endorsement of that company, its management, its products, or its securities by Temenal. Expert answers reflect the views and experience of individual contributors only. Temenal makes no representation as to the investment merit, business quality, or accuracy of any company-specific information on the platform.
Temenal conducts periodic quality reviews of expert content, independent of subscriber complaints. Content that no longer meets platform standards may be placed under review at any time, even if it was accepted at the time of original submission. We will notify the contributing expert before taking any action on proactively identified concerns.
Subscribers may flag content they believe may contain MNPI, inaccurate information, or a platform standard violation. Flagging can be done via support@temenal.com. A submission does not guarantee a formal review — we assess each flag on its merits. We will not disclose the identity of a flagging subscriber to the contributing expert without that subscriber's consent.
We may update this Content Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to all active Expert contributors and subscribers by email at least 14 days before they take effect.
